Phase2 Priority 1

Programme 1.1. Youth at Risk - customised youth programme focused on challenging young people’s attitudes and behaviour in peace building. The focus here is on young people at risk of becoming involved in paramilitary/dissident activities, noting the need for credible involvement of target groups in the implementation.

Delivery Mechanism - Tender
Programme 1.2. Peer learning and peace building leadership programme - for young people (from Peace III target groups and areas), with emphasis on young people with potential to effect change in their own local target communities. It will involve training, facilitation and mentoring from skilled youth workers. This project will have access to developmental grants to enable young people to practice their peace building leadership qualities. This will be an integral part of the programme and will be done on a small group basis so as to promote co-operation and working together. A key part of this element of the programme will be the involvement of target groups of the Peace III programme so as to ensure that the resulting projects are focused on addressing the key issues of sectarianism and racism - 2 programmes.

Delivery Mechanism - Tender
Programme 1.3. Youth peace building and networking programme - facilitated through Comhairle na-Óg. This will involve the Comhairle making provisions for young people from the target groups and areas of the programme (young people from families of people who have been displaced, victims’ families, ex-republican prisoners families, Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and Traveller communities, and young people from minority faith backgrounds) and involving them in dialogue events, cross border and other peace building engagement event. The purpose here is to enable young people from target communities to take part in and influence the structures for young people in the county. 2 year programme.

Delivery Mechanism - Partner Delivery
Programme 1.4. Primary schools based programmes - which address diversity and which involves parents and grandparents. The focus here will be on those schools in which there are children from families and communities where there are significant numbers of children from target groups of the Peace III Programme.

Delivery Mechanism - Tender
Programme 1.5. Secondary schools based programme - which focuses on exploring local histories of the Conflict and which involve the active participation of young and older people. This programme should build on the work and learning from the SPIRAL programme in Phase I.
